50 Years Later: 2nd Of October - Mexico City 2018
October 2nd marks a dark day in Mexico’s history when the military executed students and their families as they protested the forthcoming Olympic games in Mexico City. Tanks and soldiers on the ground were sent into the soviet style Tlatelolco housing complex, north of Mexico City’s historic center. I happened to land the day before and had the pleasure of walking on the 50th anniversary of this tragic day. Ironically, this massacre has united the left in Mexico and made them much stronger over the years.
El 2 de octubre marca un día oscuro en la historia de México, donde los militares ejecutaron a estudiantes y sus familiares, mientras protestaban por los próximos Juegos Olímpicos en la Ciudad de México. Enviaron unos tanques y soldados al complejo habitacional de Tlatelolco, al norte del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México. Por casualidad aterricé el día anterior del 50 aniversario de este trágico evento, que a su vez ha unido a la izquierda en México y la ha hecho mucho más fuerte en los años posteriores.
